The Monumental Meaning of Being Forgiven.

Let’s unpack this word – forgiven.⁣ Specifically, forgiveness by God.⁣⁣ First of all, Adam and Eve disobeyed God in the Garden of Eden. This set the tone for humans to sin against God ever since.⁣⁣ God loves us too much to let us spend an eternity in Hell (thank you LORD), so He provided a way of redemption through His Son Jesus Christ. Can we take a moment to soak in this truth? Our Heavenly Father couldn’t bear the thought of spending eternity without us. Therefore, He provided a way through His One and Only Son, Jesus.

The Prophecies of Jesus

“and through your offspring all nations on earth will be blessed, because you have obeyed me.” – Genesis 22:18 NIV

In Genesis, we learn that Jesus comes from Jewish decent, coming from the line of Abraham.

In reference to Genesis 22:18, the promise of the offspring of all nations on earth will be blessed will be fulfilled through the birth, life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

“I see him, but not now; I behold him, but not near. A star will come out of Jacob; a scepter will rise out of Israel. He will crush the foreheads of Moab, the skulls of all the people of Sheth.” – Numbers 24:17 NIV

Jesus is the star that will come out of Israel, He will be victorious over all other Kings.

Sacrificial Lamb

The love from our Heavenly Father is immeasurably more than we could ever imagine. The God of the entire universe prepared a sacrificial lamb to cover all of us. The blood of Jesus covers all!

Jesus said, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” (John 14:6) ⁣⁣Ergo, God’s plan for saving us (salvation) from our sin was through Jesus Christ. Now, this sacrifice was perfect & spotless. Only Jesus could be the sacrificial lamb because he was perfect, blameless, and without sin. We couldn’t rectify our relationship with God because we are of sinful nature (back to Adam & Eve’s disobedience).⁣⁣

Crucifixion

The night before Jesus’ crucifixion, he held a cup of wine and told his apostles, “This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.” (Matthew 26:28⁣⁣) When Jesus died on the cross the next day, taking the punishment for US; He ,alone, atoned our sins. Three days later, He defeated death for ALL who believe in him as Savior.⁣⁣ Jesus commanded us to repent, turn away from our sins to receive God’s forgiveness.

Made Anew

Once we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior, that He was born, died, and resurrected again, we are made anew. The Holy Spirit enters into our heart as our guide while we are here on earth. Until we meet Jesus in Heaven again, we should strive to become more Christ-like every day. We will never be exactly like Jesus because He was the perfect, Holy, sacrificial lamb that saved us from eternity in Hell. But, we can study the Bible, Jesus’ teachings, and prioritize our life as if we are preparing our permanent home in Heaven.

We are forgiven when we follow God’s instruction, repenting from our sin. Furthermore, we must turn away from our sinful natures. ⁣⁣It’s easy to think God doesn’t love us, nor forgives us for our past sins. That would be the Devil trying his best on you. We are made ANEW. Rest assured, He tells us we are and exactly how to receive His forgiveness. ⁣⁣Straight from God’s Word. Keep your chin up during this spiritual war!⁣
